Question

Do you think paernts should have complete access to a childs cell phone?
My daughter is . She got her first cell phone last Christmas at . Within a month she was the victim of sexting. I had a talk with her. We blocked the boy that was doing the offense. I am worried now because she has way more friends now and seems to give out her number to just about anyone she meets. I dont know these people. She might meet them at a football game when she is with her girlfriends. I find out later the number might belong to boys years older than she is.

Answer

ABSOLUTELY! The parent is the one that has to sign for the phone and is under contract for that phone. The parent is usually the one that pays the bill. Parents are responsible for not only the phone but the child until they are of age. brbrDefinitely, as a parent you have every right and responsibility to know what is going on with that phone. Does not mean you have to listen in on private conversations between her friends but it does mean you need to know WHO her friends are and whats going on with it.brbrPersonally I always let my children use MY phone when they needed it when they were growing up. Kids think we parents OWE them a phone we dont and they are not necessities they are privileges.
